Coach Thompson

Hello, I'm Coach Thompson a teacher and a basketball coach and I've been married for 27 years to Scott Thompson.  My husband Scott is also an educator.  Scott teaches Health Education at Darby Junior High School and coaches girl's basketball at Northside High School in Fort Smith.  We have two daughters, Katy who is 23 and a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in Spanish and Social Work.  Our youngest daughter, Maegan is in graduate school at Northeastern University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma majoring in Speech Language Pathology.

I began my teaching career in January of 1994 as a first grade teacher and continued teaching first grade for another year.  In 1996 I made the switch to Kindergarten and taught Kindergarten for 3 years.  We then moved to Fort Smith and my first teaching position in Fort Smith was at Tilles Elementary as a second grade teacher.  While at Tilles I also taught a fourth/fifth split class before moving on to the junior high level at Darby in 1998.  While at Darby I had the privilege of teaching 7th grade Geography and also assisting with junior high girl's basketball.  In 2001 I was transferred to Kimmons Junior High school as a 7th grade math teacher and assistant girl's basketball coach where I am currently still teaching and coaching.  In 2005 I was promoted to head girl's basketball coach and I have enjoyed that transition very much.
